1. Purpose and scope
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how Mara Studio LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("Mara Studio", "we", "us" or "our"), which operates publicly under the brand name Systems Curator, uses cookies and similar technologies on the websites we operate at https://helenalemayo.com and https://www.systemscurator.com (the "Website").
1.2 It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more fully what personal information we handle and why, and with our Terms of Use.
1.3 The domain https://www.systemscurator.com redirects to https://helenalemayo.com. This Policy applies to both addresses.
1.4 If you have a question about this Policy, email hello@systemscurator.com.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
2.1 A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies allow a site to recognize your device, keep a session working, remember a preference, and support security features.
2.2 Similar technologies include local storage in your browser, session storage, software development kits and small transparent image files sometimes called pixels or web beacons. Where this Policy refers to cookies, it means cookies and those similar technologies.
2.3 A first party cookie is set by the website you are visiting. A third party cookie is set by another organization whose service is embedded in the page, for example a scheduling or payment widget.
2.4 A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your device for a defined period or until you delete it.
3. The approach we take
3.1 We keep our use of cookies deliberately narrow. The Website is an information and business development site, not an advertising platform, and we have chosen not to build an advertising or profiling layer into it.
3.2 We do not use cookies for advertising, for retargeting, for building an advertising profile of you or for tracking you across other websites.
3.3 We do not currently use Google Analytics or any social media or advertising pixel on the Website.
3.4 The cookies that are set are those needed to deliver the Website securely, and those set by the embedded scheduling and payment services when you choose to use them.
4. The categories of cookie we use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the Website to function and to be delivered securely. They support basic navigation, session continuity, load balancing, protection against automated abuse, and the correct operation of forms. The Website cannot be provided without them, and they cannot be switched off through our Website.
4.2 Scheduling cookies. When you open or use the booking feature, our scheduling provider may set cookies to maintain your booking session, remember your progress through the booking flow and prevent duplicate or fraudulent bookings. These are set only when you interact with the booking feature.
4.3 Payment and fraud prevention cookies. When you make a payment, our payment processor may set cookies to process the transaction, maintain the payment session and detect fraudulent activity. These are set by the payment processor and are necessary for the payment to complete.
4.4 We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or social media tracking cookies on the Website. If we introduce any of them in future, we will update this Policy before or at the time we do so and we will implement any consent mechanism required by the law that applies to that technology.
5. Third parties whose cookies may appear
5.1 The third party services embedded in or supporting the Website are:
- Vercel, which hosts and delivers the Website;
- Cal.com, which provides appointment scheduling and intake;
- Stripe, which processes payments and invoices.
5.2 Each of these providers handles the information it collects under its own privacy notice and cookie practices, which we do not control. The Stripe privacy notice is published at https://stripe.com/privacy.
5.3 We do not permit these providers to use information collected on the Website to advertise to you elsewhere.
5.4 If we add, change or remove a provider whose service sets cookies, we will update this Policy. The current list of providers is available on request from hello@systemscurator.com.
6. How you can control cookies
6.1 You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to see the cookies stored on your device, delete them individually or in bulk, block third party cookies, block cookies from a specific site, or block all cookies. The settings are usually found under privacy, security or site settings in the browser menu.
6.2 Blocking cookies that are strictly necessary, or blocking cookies set by our scheduling or payment providers, will prevent parts of the Website from working. In particular, you may be unable to book an appointment or complete a payment.
6.3 Browser settings apply to the browser and device you set them on. If you use more than one browser or device, you will need to set your preference on each.
6.4 Many browsers also offer a private or incognito mode, which deletes cookies from the session when the window is closed.
7. Do Not Track and opt out preference signals
7.1 Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal, and some send an opt out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control. There is no single accepted standard governing how a website must respond to a Do Not Track signal.
7.2 Because we do not use tracking technology for advertising, and because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross context behavioral advertising, these signals do not change what is collected on the Website.
7.3 We will honor an opt out preference signal to the extent that a law applicable to us requires it.
8. Changes to this Policy
8.1 We may update this Policy, for example if we change a provider or introduce a new feature. The current version is always published on the Website and the effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
8.2 If we introduce a category of cookie that requires your consent under applicable law, we will not set it before obtaining that consent.
